Problems Possible Causes Possible Solutions
False signals
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI)
  • Extreme humidity
  • Sensitivity set too high
  • Sweeping too fast or wrong angle
  • Multiple metal detectors used in close proximity
  • Move to a different search area
  • Reduce sensitivity
  • Sweep slowly, keeping the coil level and 1 – 2 inches (2.5– 5 cm) from the ground
  • Keep metal detectors at least 20 ft. (6 m) apart
Erratic/multiple signals
  • Multiple targets
  • Highly mineralized soil
  • Reduce sensitivity
  • Move to a different search area
Detector fails to detect anything
  • Sensitivity set too low
  • Target-ID is filtered out
  • Search coil at wrong angle
  • Increase sensitivity
  • Re-enable that target-ID in DISC mode
  • Adjust search coil to be parallel with the ground
Detector does not function at all
  • Flat battery
  • Disconnected search coil cable
  • Charge the battery
  • Reconnect the search coil cable plug into the DIN connector
